About ME

I am a physician and research scientist at the University of Washington and Google.

My research is focused on technology-based translational research, usually at the intersection of computer science and public health. My research currently involves finding ways to use commodity smart devices to help lessen the burden of public health challenges. My current project areas include early detection of acute opioid overdose, out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and incipient respiratory infections. The common thread running through this work is detection and anticipation of aberrant physiologic signatures for which there are evidence-based, time-sensitive interventions.

My research is supported by the below organizations.
